Endowment Investment Analyst

UTIMCO's Marketable Alternatives program currently has more than $5 billion invested with external hedge fund managers. The Marketable Alternatives Analyst is responsible for assisting the eight-person team with quantitative and qualitative analysis and research. Broad responsibilities include:

  • Monitor hedge fund manager performance and exposures; update monthly reports
  • Perform quantitative analysis on existing and prospective managers, including correlations to indices and existing investments, return regressions, and risk/return statistics
  • Provide analytical support to three senior investment professionals on research projects
  • Assist in the due diligence of prospective managers
  • Maintain current knowledge of the hedge fund industry and global capital markets by monitoring current financial publications, as well as leveraging personal contacts with outside research/industry professionals and conducting ad hoc research
  • Interact effectively with other groups at UTIMCO, including investments in other asset classes, risk management, accounting and technology

The Analyst should have an undergraduate business degree from a reputable institution and preferably have or plan to pursue a CFA and/or CPA designation. The Analyst should have 1-3 years relevant experience in finance or investment-related field; investment banking experience is a plus. The Analyst should have exceptional quantitative skills to evaluate fund performance and risk, and should be well-versed in Microsoft Excel and Bloomberg. Strong communication, organization skills, good attitude, and ability to work in a team environment are essential.
