Endowment Hedge Fund Associate

The Hedge Fund Associate will work closely with the Managing Director and is responsible for monitoring current investments, evaluating potential investment opportunities, and executing projects pertaining to the administration of UTIMCO's hedge fund program, which currently exceeds $6 billion. Broad responsibilities include:
- Manage portfolio of hedge fund manager relationships (including monitoring individual manager performance and risk on a regular basis, fostering valued relationships with all individual managers, conducting periodic updates to initial due diligence, conducting periodic on-site visits with key investment and operations personnel at each manager)
- Source and assess new investment opportunities by establishing industry contacts, holding meetings with prospective funds, attending relevant industry conferences/forums, performing initial qualitative and quantitative analysis as required, and maintaining current prospective manager database
- Lead comprehensive due diligence process for evaluating prospective mangers that consists of in-depth analysis of investment strategy, performance and risk analysis, manager strengths and weaknesses, risk management, operations, manager backgrounds, reference checks, evaluation of service providers, assessment of existing investor base, and thorough review of relevant legal documents with input from outside counsel
- Lead negotiation of investment terms with new and existing managers with advice of Managing Director and outside counsel
- Assist the Managing Director with asset allocation decisions and portfolio evaluation, considering available capacity with existing manager relationships and liquidity impact of new additions
- Prepare standard and ad hoc reports and presentations to facilitate communication and transparency to the Board and other external entities as required
- Manage work streams and deliverables of junior-level team members and interns and take primary initiative for their career development
- Maintain current knowledge of the hedge fund industry and global capital markets by monitoring current financial publications, as well as leveraging personal contacts with outside research/industry professionals and conducting ad hoc research as necessary
- Communicate effectively and responsibly with 8-person Hedge Fund team and other UTIMCO staff, and promote a true team atmosphere
- Represent UTIMCO in the marketplace with highest integrity and professionalism
The Associate should have an MBA from a leading institution and/or a CFA designation and have 3-5 years of relevant experience in finance or investment-related field (investment banking is a plus). The Associate should have exceptional quantitative skills to evaluate fund and portfolio performance and risk and should be well-versed in Microsoft Excel and financial applications (e.g. Bloomberg, Factset). Strong, proven communication, organization skills and good attitude are essential.
Financial Analyst - Natural Resources & Infrastructure

The Natural Resources portfolio has a target exposure of 10% of the endowments total assets. JOB DESCRIPTION: The Analyst will work directly with the Natural Resource and Infrastructure team and other UTIMCO investment professionals to research, analyze, monitor, and invest within these asset categories. Depending on current work conditions the Financial Analyst will receive broad exposure to the entire investment process and participate in broader UTIMCO investment allocation decisions. The responsibilities of a Financial Analyst will include, but are not limited to:
- Analyze and support investment objectives, allocation strategies, and investment performance within Natural Resources and Infrastructure
- Screen, monitor, and assist in the selection of money managers through fund and asset class research, manager meetings, and portfolio analysis
- Support, track, and monitor all phases of the investment process and investment performance
- Assist investment staff in negotiating and drafting deal terms with managers and other outside parties
- Conduct asset class research and develop investment thesis
REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree in finance, accounting or engineering preferred.
- 1+ years of professional energy and/or commodities experience, preferably in investment banking, investment research, or in an institutional environment a definite plus.
- This is a pre-MBA position ideally suited for individuals with strong financial and analytical skills.
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills are essential to success in this role.
- Knowledge and understanding of information systems including advanced computer skills in spreadsheets and databases (knowledge of Bloomberg a plus)
Real Estate Associate
The Real Estate Associate will work closely with other senior members of the UTIMCO investment team undertaking responsibility for monitoring current investments, evaluating potential investment opportunities, and executing projects pertaining to the administration of UTIMCO's Real Estate portfolio, which has a current allocation of approximately $2 billion. Broad responsibilities include:
