Integrated into The University of Texas System in 1977, The University of Texas Health Center at Tyler is the state's primary referral center for cardiovascular diseases.

1978:

In 1978 an Attorney General opinion advised that interest accruing from the PUF under Sections 17 and 18 of Article 7 must be used to retire outstanding bond obligations and to finance permanent improvements.

1979:



Established in 1971 as an upper-level university, U. T. Tyler became a part of The U. T. System in 1979. U. T. Tyler's mission was changed by the Texas Legislature in 1997 to include lower division classes.
